Williams Powell is a friendly, medium-sized firm of patent and trade mark attorneys that has grown steadily over the last decade because the quality of our work and our commercial approach has attracted new clients. We are committed to promotion from within, and encourage both professional and administrative staff to grow their knowledge, skills and responsibilities.

We value and respect work-life balance. Our management style ensures that both professional and administrative staff are supported in their job both in terms of training and supervision.

We will look favourably on and assist any candidate who wishes to acquire further professional skills, such as trade mark and/or litigation qualifications.

Qualified attorneys and trainees can expect close contact with partners and a wide variety of work and subject matter.

We have many direct clients for whom we do significant amounts of original drafting and prosecution work, particularly in the general engineering and science areas, as well as in the field of medical devices. These direct clients also offer ample opportunity to advise and assist in other areas, including infringement and exploitation.

There is a variety of work available across all technical disciplines. Your technical background is less important to us therefore than your ability to understand a client’s needs, grasp complex concepts quickly, and explain them clearly, both verbally and in writing. It would also be advantageous to be able to demonstrate some knowledge or experience of commercial realities.

We will offer you all the support necessary to complete and pass successfully any remaining examinations as well as to develop professionally. Our large and increasing client base offers good prospects for advancement within the firm for any successful candidate.
