Trainee Patent Attorney
What are we looking for?
We are looking to recruit two patent trainees, either directly from university or industry with no prior experience or having had some experience in the profession and having recently obtained the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. Technical background is less important than flair, although you must have a science or engineering degree; if you have the ability to grasp complex scientific concepts and to express them succinctly on paper and orally then we want you to help us build our firm.
We are looking for candidates who are ready to learn, have the aptitude to qualify as British and European patent attorneys with our support, and who wish to build a successful career as a patent attorney. An ability to read basic German will be useful although not essential.
Who are we?
Williams Powell is a progressive and expanding patent and trade mark practice, benefiting from a significant proportion of direct client work and a solid litigation division. We are a medium sized and growing firm with sufficient work to become larger still in partnership with the right people. We are committed to promotion from within, and seek trainees with the potential to become the qualified attorneys and partners of the future.
Why should you come to us?
We offer an environment where you will be supported, taken seriously, and seen as an investment rather than an impediment. We are a young partnership which believes that it is possible to be both socially relaxed and professionally serious. We are flexible in our approach, rigorous in our application, and more interested in outcome than peripherals. We provide structured training, interesting work and direct oversight from a Partner from day one. After an initial bedding-in period in our office in Central London, we are flexible in relation to remote working/office balance.
The right candidates can be assured of support to achieve excellence in the profession and a rewarding career with us.
Williams Powell is a signatory to the IP Inclusive Charter and welcomes candidates from any background.
