David is a British and European Patent Attorney. David read Physics at St. Peter’s College, Oxford. During the final year of his degree, David specialised jointly in condensed matter physics and theoretical physics, submitting a project which combined aspects of both disciplines.

At Williams Powell, David has worked on patent applications in a variety of technical areas focusing on the field of physics, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications for medical, mechanical, and optical devices. David has experience of handling international filing programmes and managing prosecution of global families of patent applications. He also has experience of filing oppositions and defending opposed patents at the EPO. David has acted as representative in oral proceedings at the EPO, both in contentious opposition proceedings and before the Board of Appeal.

David’s practice also includes the preparation and filing of registered design applications at the UK-IPO and overseas.

David is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys' International Liaison Committee and is the lead member of the committee for Korea. He is also a member of AIPPI.
